Three years ago I quit smoking – with help from Blue Cross – and gained 20 pounds. I began my smoking cessation knowing I would gain weight, but I thought that quitting smoking came first, and I accepted the weight gain. When I was comfortable not smoking, I joined Weight Watchers at work and lost the 20 pounds. I started walking and making healthier choices when cooking and eating. Last weekend, my husband and I walked down the many, many stairs to Cascade Falls in Osceola, Wisconsin. I knew this was a test for me, as we had gone down those same stairs about 10 years ago and I could hardly make it back up because I was gasping for air. This time though, I made it up fine and had a truly enjoyable walk at the falls!
