April 6, 2011
Day 20
I crashed last night. I fell asleep in 5 minutes. Woke up before the alarm went off. I am feeling very rested.
Almost 11,000 steps this morning. I used the Nordic walking poles to change it upo a bit. It felt great!. They work your arms and you burn 20% more calories. it feels good to work my arms.
People have asked what music I listen to while walking. I have been listening to Michael Jackson’s BAD album and them move into his HISTORY album. My favorite song is “Man in the mirror” It speaks to me on many levels. The music has
Left the box for about 2 hours today. I went on a bike ride with “NICE RIDE”. Those are the brightly colored bikes you can rent at various “stations” around the cities. I met BIll, I believe he’s the director. He is passionate about biking and its benefits. Bill took me and group on some of the bike trails. We went biking for about 40minutes. I was joined by 2 of my human doing Facebook friends, Tammy and Scott. Thank you both for showing up today. There were about 20 of us that kicked off the biking season using the NICE RIDE bikes.
OH! i almost forgot. The bikes, are very nice to ride, very smooth and well maintained! I would recommend Nice Ride for anyone who wanted to give biking a try.
Today i met Katie form the Daily. She came in from New York to interview me, she was a great sport and even agreed to do my 3pm DO with me. I then made her one of my Chris Freytags smoothies, she liked it. I am getting pretty good at making smoothies, the right blender helps… And sorry if your arms are sore. It could have been air guitar! hehe
I then had the pleasure of meeting Jeremy Hubbell from http://www.mplstaichi.com today. Jeremy took me through a 45 minutes beginner class. He showed me various moves and explained that it can takes years to master certain the Tai Chi form. But with Jeremys’ help and encouragement, i was amazed at what i was able to do in such a short period of time. I found it rewarding and would definitely try it again. Tai Chi is for everyone and the slow controlled forms and movements are ideal for someone looking to start the working out process. Very rewarding.
What a great day of learning! Day 21 hear I come.
PS: Spoonriver cooking event tomorrow! Want to make sure people know that they can join me at All Inc. Also, anyone who visits Spoonriver and says “I’m following Scott and getting healthy” gets a vegetable platter & dip free (AT the restaurant only - not at tomorrow’s class).
