Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota and the American Heart Association developed do to inspire Minnesotans to be active. Statistics show that less than half of Minnesota’s adults are even moderately physically active. do wants to change that.
Combined with poor diet, physical inactivity is the second-leading cause of preventable death and disease in the United States. It’s directly related to conditions including heart disease, stroke, hypertension, diabetes, colon cancer and osteoporosis.
Physical inactivity is also a huge economic burden. The Minnesota Department of Health estimated that it cost nearly $500 million each year to treat diseases and conditions that could be avoided if all Minnesotans were physically active.
